Rosarito
Rosarito is located just 18 miles south of the U.S. border. It is a great weekend destination. On warm days the beaches are filled with many activities including surfing, body surfing, volleyball and horseback riding. Souvenir shops, excellent restaurants, bars.
Puerto Nuevo
Puerto Nuevo started out as a fish camp on the bluffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean. As word got around that there were a lot of lobsters to catch in the nearby ocean, more and more people came to fish and serve lobsters to the ever-growing number of visitors, including many Americans. One of the early residents built a small stand in the vicinity of where the arches stand today, and next to it was a small billboard that advertised the Newport brand cigarettes. The Americans named the town after the billboard; Newport is translated into Spanish as Puerto Nuevo. That's how the village received it's name.
You will never see so many restaurants that specialize in lobster as you'll see in Puerto Nuevo. Every street is lined with hotels, restaurants and souvenir stands. Lobster is what put Puerto Nuevo on the map and lobster is what keeps the town going.
Popotla
Catch of the day? Not here it’s more like catch of the hour.
This place reminds me of what Puerto Nuevo used to be before it went mainstream. Located just minutes south of Rosarito next to Fox Studios lies the rustic fishing village of poptla.
As you pass Fox Studios turn onto the narrow dirt road marked by the white arches. You will pass many vendors selling Tamales, Elote, CoCo Frios, and much more.
Unlike Puerto Nuevo, Popotla offers much more local catch then just lobster and at much lower prices. For the adventurous looking for the freshest seafood in a rustic setting look no further. Nothing fancy here just fresh catch!
Super fun day, Chris! Thanks again for showing us Popotla. -Michelle & Pietro

Landscape & Night Photography Workshops and Photo Tours
First, we are for any level experience photographer. If you don't know the difference between an aperture and a hole in the ground, fear not. There is no such thing as a dumb question. We welcome brand new photographers. Sometimes we have photographers who are well familiar with their equipment and only need to be shown where to shoot. Or, they know the equipment, but have never shot night photography, so they need instruction. But no matter your level of experience, you will come away with new knowledge about how to get the most out of your equipment and your effort. Newbies are welcome and encouraged to attend!
My specialties are private workshops and tours. As opposed to a group workshop, the private option allows our time together to be tailored to exactly what you or your group would like to learn as well as the locations you desire to photograph. You can opt for a workshop where instruction will be the focus, a tour where reaching incredible locations will be the focus, or a combination of both! My extensive backpacking and travel experience opens the door to nearly any location you desire. In addition to instruction, for a fee I can provide your meals in the backcountry as well as equipment rental. For beginners taking a trip into the backcountry, an orientation including gear recommendations will be provided. Trips can be on a one-on-one basis or groups up to four.
Marina Puerto Salina
La Salina is located 73 km south of the border on the Toll Road from Tijuana, about half way between Rosarito and Ensenada. Locals know it as the exit between La Fonda and Baja Mar, centrally located on the Baja peninsulas beautiful Gold Coast. A great area for holiday tourism.
La Bufadora
Located 17 miles south of Ensenada at the tip of the Punta Banda peninsula, La Bufadora (The Blowhole) is an amazing natural marine geyser that is capable of shooting water well over 60 feet in the air. La Bufadora is considered to be the second largest marine geyser in the world (the largest is located at Makapuu Point in Oahu, Hawaii) This marine geyser phenomenon is caused by ocean waves being forced into a partially submerged sea cavern, causing great amounts of air and water pressure to build. The air and ocean water are expelled through the only exit, launching it several stories into the air.
